The first Asia Pacific office opened in Tokyo, Japan, in 1996 and now has over 100 staff with further expansion planned.

ICON Central Laboratories supports the Asia Pacific region from facilities strategically located in the region. The ICON laboratories in Singapore and India are wholly-owned, CAP accredited and NGSP Level I certified and utilise the same testing platforms and operate to the same high quality standards as all ICON laboratories globally.

In June 2010, ICON's third laboratory facility in Asia Pacific opened to meet growing demand from clients. The new laboratory facility in Tianjin, China, is in partnership with Fountain Medical Development Ltd (FMD) and supports all sites in China. The laboratory is also CAP accredited and initial testing capabilities include chemistry, urinalysis, HbA1c, immunology, hematology, coagulation and endocrinology.

In China, ICON has an alliance agreement with Tigermed Consulting, a leader in the provision of clinical drug development services. Through this agreement, ICON and Tigermed can offer pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients better access to Chinese patients, utilising the global reach and experience of the ICON organisation, complemented by Tigermed's in depth knowledge of the Chinese drug development landscape and geographic coverage in China. With headquarters in Shanghai, Tigermed currently operates from 21 offices in China and has over 300 clinical development staff located there.

There are over 400 highly qualified ICON staff based in India over 4 locations – Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi, and Trivandrum.
