Statistical Issues in the Psychometric Evaluation of Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) Measures

17th January, 2013
Time: 15:00 - 16:00

Location: Webinar
Timezone: (GMT) Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon, Casablanca

This webinar will discuss the statistical methods used in the psychometric evaluation of PRO measures. The quantitative validation approaches taken can include both classical test theory (CTT) approaches as well as item response theory (IRT). CTT includes the measurement of reliability (internal consistency, test-retest, inter-rater); validity (construct, known-groups); and ability to detect change (responsiveness). IRT is used to identify items how well items are functioning in relation to the underlying construct and is particularly useful in questionnaire development.

The focus of the webinar will be on the classical test theory approach to psychometric validation, and will provide an overview of the statistical methods used and considerations relevant to their interpretation. The webinar should be appropriate for those who are new to this field or as a review for those who already work in it.
