Dr. Mario Rocci – President, ICON Development Solutions

Dr. Mario Rocci joined ICON as the former CEO of Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of ICON plc) in 2008. He served as Executive Vice President of Global Bioanalytical Sciences, overseeing ICON’s expanding Bioanalytical Sciences group, until his current appointment as President, ICON Development Solutions.

Mario's 29 years of industry experience includes positions such as Head of the Laboratory of Investigative Medicine and Research Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was part of a team of Clinical Pharmacologists conducting Phase I-IV clinical studies on drugs undergoing development. Dr. Rocci was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Actively involved in the industry, Dr. Rocci served as the 2004 President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), a professional society of over 12,000 members, having previously been elected to a three year term on the AAPS Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and is Chairman of the Board of the Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI). He has authored over 125 scientific publications and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sciences and the regulatory requirements of the FDA.

Dr. Rocci earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
 

Dr. Dennis Ruff, MD – Vice President & Medical Director

Dr. Dennis Ruff received his Doctor of Medicine in 1982 from Albany Medical College Union University, Albany, NY. After training in internal medicine he joined Healthcare Discoveries, formerly South Texas Clinical trials, in 1988 as Medical Director, President and Investigator.

Since 1989, he has served as a Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Medicine at UTHSC San Antonio, TX. Dr. Ruff has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 350 studies. A seasoned investigator and an expert manager, Dr. Ruff ensures swift and safe clinical operations. Dr. Ruff has 16 years experience in research.

Dr. Emanuel DeNoia, MD - Associate Medical Director

Dr. Emanuel DeNoia received his Doctor of Medicine in 1975 from the College of Medicine of New Jersey. After training in internal medicine and medical residency at Monmouth Medical Center, he opened his practice in Internal Medicine and served on numerous boards and committees, including a term as the Chairmen of the Department of Medicine at Humana Hospital San Antonio. He joined Healthcare Discoveries in 1995 as a Clinical Investigator. After 33 years of practice, he joined Healthcare Discoveries full time in 2005. Dr. DeNoia has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 100 studies.

Dr. George J. Atiee, MD - Associate Medical Director

Dr. George J. Atiee received his Doctor of Medicine in 1985 from University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Baylor College of Medicine where he was selected as Chief Resident. He served three years in the military at the Primary Care Clinic Randolph Air Base, TX. He was a founding member of the largest primary care group in San Antonio. He first became involved in clinical research in 1996 with Sun Research Institute, TX, followed by his own research company, GSA Research. He closed his clinical practice after 17 years and joined Healthcare Discoveries in 2005 as Clinical Investigator. Dr Atiee has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 85 studies

Suzanne Atiee – Volunteer Recruitment Manager

Suzanne Atiee received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Mary’s University in 1981. She worked in laboratory research in San Antonio and at the UTHSC at Houston and Baylor College of Medicine. Later she worked as an embryologist in the Human In Vitro Fertilization industry for 15 years. She gained experience as a CRC at GSA Research conducting phase II through IV for five years. Suzanne joined ICON in May 2008.
