Simplifying the real-time collection, registering and management of samples

Efficient end-to-end sample management and tracking is an important aspect within clinical trials. Knowing the exact location of a sample at any stage benefits sites, study teams and sponsors, and saves valuable time and resources. 

LabView360 is a new, custom designed application from ICON that streamlines end-to-end sample management, delivering numerous benefits and efficiencies. In time, this application will digitise the entire chain of custody, delivering maximum visibility and control throughout the process. 

The first release of LabView360* includes a new digital requisition process that will simplify the real-time collection and registering of samples. 

Site personnel can log in and create, search and edit both subject and visit data, benefitting from built-in data validations that help to ensure the correct data has been entered. 

During the sample requisition process they can utilise the device's camera to scan barcodes on the visit kit to automatically access the right study and confirm sample collection. 

*Limited pilot phase in Q2 2024 with wider roll out to follow. 

Labview360 significantly eases site burden during sample collection by:

  • Eliminating paper requisition forms
  • Reducing data entry time
  • Improving quality of data collection 
  • Preventing incomplete data entry 
  • Reducing query investigation and resolution

Future enhancements

The new digital requisitioning features in Labview360’s first release are only the beginning. Future roadmap plans include:

  • Enhanced data validations
  • Sample shipment tracking for increased visibility and control
  • Third party barcode and enhanced bulk supply support for easier kit management
  • Sample preparation and test log support 
  • An analytics database that will deliver greater chain of custody insights.
